Detroit rookie Eric Ebron hopes to fit in quickly after being picked in 1st round

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The Detroit Lions could have used their first-round draft pick to shore up the secondary or address some other position of need. Instead they added another pass catcher to an offense that already has several good ones.

The Lions have a lot invested in rookie tight end Eric Ebron, so he should have a chance to play as soon as he proves worthy.

Ebron caught 62 passes for 973 yards and three touchdowns in his final season at North Carolina. Now, Detroit’s 2014 draft might be judged on how quickly he fits into the offense.

Minicamp can be a whirlwind for any rookie, but Ebron was in an upbeat mood when he met with reporters Friday.
